A San Diego Congresswoman plans to hold a town hall on marriage equality and federal benefits in San Diego on August 27th. SDGLN reports:
Congresswoman Susan Davis and the San Diego LGBT Community Center are hosting a Marriage Equality Town Hall to address the issue of federal benefits and taxes for same-sex marriages on Tuesday, Aug. 27 from 6-8 pm. With the recent Supreme Court decision striking down the federal benefits section of the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), many questions are being raised on how federal benefits and tax issues will apply to married same-sex couples. Experts will speak on tax, immigration and constitution law, in a Marriage Equality Town Hall, to explain changes in the law and answer questions.
Hopefully she’ll address the issue with Social Security and states that don’t yet recognize marriage equality.
